About the Social Media Image Resizer

Resize Images for Social Media

Every platform asks for something slightly different, and remembering that an Instagram portrait post is 1080x1350 while a YouTube thumbnail is 1280x720 is nobody's idea of fun. With this tool you simply pick the platform and the kind of image you are making. The correct width, height and aspect ratio are filled in for you, so you can concentrate on framing the picture rather than looking up numbers.

Why Social Media Image Sizes Matter

Different placements use different shapes. A story fills a tall phone screen, a cover photo is a long thin strip, and a feed post may be square, portrait or landscape. If you upload an image in the wrong shape, the platform will crop it for you, and it rarely chooses the part you wanted. Starting with the recommended size gives you control over what appears and avoids stretched or awkwardly cut images.

Crop or Fit Your Image

Crop to Fill makes the image cover the entire frame. Anything that falls outside the frame is trimmed away, and you can drag and zoom to choose exactly which part stays. Fit Entire Image keeps the whole picture visible instead. Where the shapes do not match, the leftover space is filled with a plain white or black background, or left transparent if you save as PNG or WebP.

Image Quality When Resizing

Making an image smaller is usually straightforward and keeps it looking sharp. Making a small image larger is different: the tool has to stretch the pixels it already has, and it cannot recreate detail that was never captured. If your photo is smaller than the size you choose, you will see a warning so you know the result may look softer. For a custom size, the Image Resizer and Image Crop Tool are also available, and the Image Compressor can reduce file size afterwards.

Your Images Stay on Your Device

All resizing and cropping happens inside your browser. Your image is never uploaded to a server or sent to an outside service, and clearing the tool removes it from the page.

What size should an Instagram post be?

Instagram supports several shapes. Square posts are 1080x1080, portrait posts are 1080x1350, landscape posts are 1080x566 and Stories or Reels are 1080x1920. Each one is available as a preset.

Can I resize one image for several social media platforms?

Yes. In the Create Multiple Sizes section, tick every size you need. Each size keeps its own crop, so you can adjust them individually before downloading them together as a ZIP file.

Will resizing reduce image quality?

Reducing the dimensions generally looks fine. Enlarging a small image can make it look softer, because no new detail can be added.

Does IntuWebTools upload my image?

No. The image is processed locally in your browser and never leaves your device.

Can I resize images on my phone?

Yes. You can upload from your phone, drag with your finger to reposition, pinch or use the slider to zoom, and download the result in modern mobile browsers.
